Uplift and Expansion of the North Qilian Shan Recorded by Detrital Fission Tracks in the Jiudong Basin, NW China

The North Qilian Shan, located in the northeastern front of Tibetan Plateau, is an ideal region to study expansion process plateau, which not clearly revealed due lack direct evidence and accurate age control. In Jiudong Basin (foreland basin Shan), a continuous late Cenozoic sedimentary sequence reliable chronostratigraphic framework (post-7 Ma) provide us material this process. study, we first analyzed provenance changes sediment by detrital apatite fission track distributions particle textures. result shows that change occurred at 4.6–3.6 Ma, when source changed from southern northern parts it indicates Shan Fault had propagated its modern location. second 3.0–2.4 Yumu south began sediments for Basin, tectonic deformation expanded Fault. Our finding suggests two significant events happened since Pliocene Shan.
